Hiltingbury fireworks helping hands

Hi-viz jackets bulging with warm coats and jumpers were the order of the night for the Lions. Thursday 4th November was a dry but cold evening in Chandler’s Ford for the Hiltingbury Schools Spooks and Sparks firework display. It is one of the school’s biggest events with over 1200 spectators in the playground overlooking the school sports field. A hardy band of Eastleigh Lions were on hand to help marshall the event adding to the school volunteers.

A combination of traffic management and crowd control tasks were carried out by the half dozen lions throughout the evening. The event was sponsored by local estate agents Sparks Ellison who also provided and manned the BBQ stall. As well as a soft drinks bar and cafe there were stalls selling light sabres which added fun and colour for the children on either side of the actual display. The fireworks were set off by a profesional team from Pain’s Firework who filled the sky with light, colour and noise for a full twelve minute display.
