All Aboard the Lion’s Bus

Fundraising started in 2018, pre-pandemic and on the 24th of February 2022 the ribbon was cut by the Mayor of Eastleigh Councillor Cynthia Garton, followed by the Lions Club President Mark Campbell naming the bus “The Lions Bus” and Age Concern Chairman Devan handing the keys over to Adrian Hughes, Chair of One Community.

Devan Kandiah, Chair of Age Concern said “The generous nature of Eastleigh residents, County Councillor Grants and donations made the task a pleasure to complete the mission. I was aware that transport concerning for Age Concern, and as a member of Eastleigh Lions, I felt we could attempt to raise the money to buy a minibus, and we raised £30,000.”

This took place at Peter Greens Furnishers in Chandlers Ford who have provided sponsorship.

Adrian Hughes said, “We know that many Eastleigh residents have been isolated and we are grateful to Age Concern and Lions Eastleigh for all their fundraising efforts, enabling One Community to be able to offer this transport to them, to get them out and about again”.

Councillor and Lion Tina Campbell said “What a difference having that minibus will make to the local community in terms of reducing social isolation and getting people out. ”
