Many people gathered on the Eastleigh Recreation Ground for a service of Remembrance. The formal ceremony was preceded by the traditional parade led by the 14th Eastleigh Scouts and Guide Spitfires Marching Band. Eastleigh Lions were able to help Eastleigh Borough Council with marshalling duties during the parade which started in Mitchell Road. Progressing across the Front of the Swan Centre, this year the procession travelled up High Street to the Rec.
Eastleigh dignitaries were joined for the service and wreath laying by representatives from the Eastleigh twin towns of Villeneuve-St-George in France and Kornwestheim in Germany. Both of them gave a speech to the assembly. In addition wreaths were laid by groups from Ukraine, Poland and the Ghurkhas. Lion President Eric laid a wreath on behalf of Eastleigh Lions.
