Lions at community garden launch

Unlike the other three lions, these three Lions, President Mark, Lion Wayne and Lion Mary were winners, along with the Eastleigh Community in the new community garden project that is taking place on the former ball games area between High Street and Market Street, south of Eastleigh Town Centre.

The games court is tucked away behind the Salvation Army building on Blenheim Road, it can be accessed via the alley next to the building and from the residents parking area on Grantham Road to the south.

The project will transform the games court into a community growing and garden space for the local community to enjoy and look after together.

Eastleigh Borough Council were looking for local volunteers to help transform this area by growing flowers and vegetables and encouraging wildlife to thrive in the area creating a pleasant green space for neighbours to meet. Our three Lions were up for the challenge and went along to the open day event at the site on Saturday 17 July.

Among other things they put painted butterflies that had been created by local children, up on the fence.
