Charity Quiz Night

On Friday evening the 31st of May The Railway Institute was the venue for an enthusiastic collection of Quiz contestants. Over ninety people took part and divided into eighteen teams of up to six competitors.

Devan instigated the Quiz as part of the scheme to raise money for a Lions sponsored mini bus for Age Concern. New member Phil Heller was master of ceremonies and quizmaster for the event ably assisted by his wife Bernice keeping the scores. The ever imaginative Phil created a purpose built quiz featuring a Lions theme which varied from fairly obvious through to fiendishly complicated. Everybody could answer a lot of the questions but nobody could get them all. So it was a good balance keeping all the teams engaged.

During some of the rounds there were spot prizes. At about half time Cliff and his team provided a very welcome ploughmans to feed the ailing brain cells. A raffle draw took place just before the final score were announced. The ultimate winners were Ildi and her team who took away an individual prize for each member. As an fundraising event it was very successful raising over £800 towards the Minibus fund.
