Nine of us met up at the King Alfred’s statue and our guide Eric took us on a tour of places of interest. These included the Mayors House, an incognito cocktail bar (never knew it even existed) which we all took turns at looking inside past the blackout curtains.
We carried on to a Tudor House, a church, Winchesters oldest house, a mill and many lanes and back streets all the way up to Saint Giles Hill. From here we had a lovely view of the city. Then it was downhill and a walk to the mill.
At this point everyone voted to go to the pub. A short walk to the Black Boy and a trusted beer in a lovely and most interesting pub.
